The last great S60 Nokia’s have been available for quite some time now, and one of them is the Nokia N79. By “last great S60 Nokia’s,” of course, I mean those handsets which have been announced and released before the much-awaited S60 5th Edition OS release on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

In typical S60 fashion, a lot of the core functionality from older models remain, while new and improved features are seamlessly integrated on top. The Nokia N79 runs on Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, and as expected there are a lot of things that remind one of older models with the same operating system.

But first things first: what are the Nokia N79’s key features? Well, it’s got a 5 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, 2.4-inch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, GPS, and accelerometer. But it holds much, much more under the hood, and so, I guess it would be better to elaborate, bullet-point style:

* Quadband GSM/Dualband UMTS
* FM radio with RDS and FM transmitter
* Touch-sensitive Naviwheel
* 3.5mm headphone jack
* Supports up to 8GB microSD cards (4GB microSD card included in the box)
* Xpress-on color covers with support for automatic changing of theme
* Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth with A2DP
* Stereo speakers
* Built-in accelerometer with auto-screen rotation
* 1200 mAh battery
==>> good camera phone

Over a year after Apple birthed iPhone, the next-generation iPhone 3G has arrived bearing a mildly tweaked design and a load of new features. With access to a faster 3G wireless network, Microsoft Exchange server e-mail, and support for a staggering array of third-party software from the iPhone App Store, the new handset is the iPhone we’ve been waiting for. It still lacks some basic features but when compared with what the original model was year ago, this device sets a new benchmark for the cell phone world.

With the iPhone 3G, Apple appears to have fixed some call-quality performance issues we had with the previous model–in our initial tests, the volume is louder with less background buzz than before. The 3G reception could be improved, however. Music and video quality were largely unchanged, but we didn’t have many complaints in that department to begin with.

Price may well remain our largest concern. New AT&T customers and most current AT&T customers can buy the iPhone 3G for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model. If you don’t qualify for that price–check your AT&T account to find out–you’ll pay $399 and $499 respectively. Either way, you’ll pay $15 more per month ($74.99 total) for a plan comparable with the original iPhone ($59 per month). So, while you’ll pay less outright to buy the handset, you’ll make it up over the course of a standard two-year AT&T contract.

So should you buy an iPhone 3G? If you haven’t bought an iPhone yet, and have been holding out for a new model, now is the time. If you’re a current iPhone owner and you’re yearning for a faster cellular network, then you should take the plunge. But if you’re an iPhone owner who won’t use 3G (or can’t; check your coverage at AT&T), then you should stick with your current model. The iPhone 2.0 software update provides Exchange server support, third-party apps support, and many new features without the added cost.

The good:
The Apple iPhone 3G offers critical new features including support for high-speed 3G networks, third-party applications, and expanded e-mail. Its call quality is improved and it continues to deliver an excellent music and video experience.

The bad:
The iPhone 3G continues to lack some basic features that are available on even the simplest cell phone. Battery life was uneven, and the 3G connection tended to be shaky. Also, the e-mail syncing is not without its faults.

The bottom line:
The iPhone 3G delivers on its promises by adding critical features and sharper call quality. The iTunes App Store is pretty amazing, and the 3G support is more than welcome. Critical features still are missing, and the battery depletes quickly under heavy use, but the iPhone 3G is a big improvement over the original model.

Spesification
Band / mode: WCDMA (UMTS) / GSM 850/900/1800/1900 ; Talk time: Up to 600 min ; Combined with: With digital camera / digital player / GPS receiver

Nokia 5230 is nothing but Nokia 5800 XpressMusic minus the Wi-Fi plus a 3.2 Megapixel autofocus camera with a fixed focus. All the other features of the Nokia 5230 are otherwise identical to Nokia 5800 XpressMusic – the same look and feels that 5230 is an elder sibling of 5800 XpressMusic.. The only exception is the white body and a backside with different colour panels.

The Nokia 5230 runs on the Symbian S60 5th Edition with the presence of flip scrolling. The UI also supports kinetic scrolling now so that the users can press and slide on the screen. The lists will continue to scroll down, eventually slowing down and coming to a halt.

The UI is very responsive and the touch screen too, even though slightly resistive, delivers a good response and feel to it.

Audio quality on the phone is impressive, and meets the expectations of the sound quality from a good music phone. The loudspeakers are loud and of excellent quality, and the sound through the headphone was great as well.

The music can be played for about 33 hours. The Nokia 5320 comes with Nokia’s Comes With Music service and a voucher which will allow the users to download up to 100 free songs from the site.

Ever since the simultaneous announcement of the Nikon D1H and D1X back in 2001 Nikon’s professional D ‘single digit’ series has been split into two – the X series designed for high resolution applications such as fashion or landscape photography and the H series for high speed sports type photography (lower resolution but faster continuous shooting). When the Nikon D3 was announced in August 2007 it did not carry an ‘H’ in its name but was clearly designed for speed. So the question wasn’t if, but when, Nikon would launch a high-resolution counterpart. It arrived, after more than a year of eager anticipation, in the shape of the Nikon D3X in December 2008.

Superficially, the new flagship is the D3′s identical twin. The body, controls, user interface and also a large proportion of the camera’s electronic and mechanical innards have been carried over directly from the D3. The camera’s core component, however, is brand new. The 36 x 23.9 mm CMOS sensor provides a resolution of 24.5 megapixels, and while this is – compared to the D3 – a massive jump in resolution, D3X users have to accept a smaller range of sensitivity (ISO 100 to 1600, extendable to ISO 50 to 6400) and slower continuous shooting of five frames per second (7 fps in DX mode) in return.

While the only other piece of news – the ‘Extra High’ setting for Active D-Lighting – won’t make much difference for most users, the premium that Nikon is charging for the extra resolution most certainly will. For $8000 retail price you can bag yourself almost two D3s. The D3X is also roughly $1500 more expensive than its only real competitor in terms of specification and features, the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III. This won’t make the professionals who this cameras is targeted at contemplate changing systems, but can a camera be worth the equivalent amount of a small car? Read on and find out in our in-depth review of the Nikon D3X.

24.5 megapixel Full-Frame (36 x 24 mm) sensor
